Bahamas judiciary to accelerate modernisation of Court services

The Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS) and the Judiciary of the Bahamas are collaborating to revolutionize the administration of justice in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. The two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on technical and development programs aimed at modernizing Court administration systems and developing local capacity to deliver enhanced justice services in The Bahamas.

The MOU was signed by the Honorable Chief Justice of The Bahamas, Sir Ian Winder, and the Executive Director of CAJS, Bevil Wooding, in Nassau.

The agreement will see the two organizations cooperate on initiatives related to the adoption and optimization of court technologies, court service innovation, technical and procedural training, and public awareness campaigns.

“We are extremely pleased to be working with an institution of the caliber of the CAJS to improve and strengthen our Court administration systems,” said Sir Ian. “This agreement provides the Judiciary with an experienced and proven regional partner as well as access to pioneering technology solutions to help accelerate our efforts to improve the administration of justice in the Bahamas. This better positions us to deliver efficient, effective and timely justice services to the public.”

“We believe that by leveraging the latest technologies and best practices, we can help increase efficiency and effectiveness of the Court systems and the quality of services delivered to its users,” said Mr. Wooding. “This ultimately benefits the public and the justice system as a whole.”

This MOU marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the CAJS and the Judiciary of The Bahamas, with the goal of improving the administration of justice in the country for the benefit of all citizens and residents.
